With the busy and stressful lives we live, it’s really easy to forget about our own wellbeing, and to develop habits that are not particularly healthy. And, the truth is that it takes just a little to stay healthy, youthful and to help ourselves alleviate stress at the same time.
The best way to avoid this is to create an uncomplicated and doable daily routine for personal health care, that won’t ask for some unachievable changes in our lives, but will still make a big positive change in our wellbeing.
Create Simple but Effective Daily Routines
Incorporating simple routines in your life as a way to start the day, as a sort of a ritual – your few moments dedicated only to yourself and your personal health care, aren’t only about your skin, your beauty, or your health. More importantly, spending time with ourselves, especially when we use that time for selfcare, improves our mental health, increases our self-confidence, and promotes self-love and self-respect.
Skin
Our skin is our largest organ, and on top of that, since it’s highly porous, it absorbs almost anything you put on it. This is why the best way to nourish your skin and to keep it youthful, is to find good quality personal care beauty products that are healthy for your skin.
Regardless weather you already have your skin care routines, or you are trying to develop ones, remember to only use products that favour your skin. Find personal health care beauty products favour your skin, and keep in mind that our skin absorbs everything, so make sure they are made from natural ingredients.
1. Cleanser, toner, serum, moisturiser
This simple morning routine will make your skin stronger and tune up your complexation. It’s a matter of remembering only three or four simple steps depending on your preferences. After you brush your teeth, wash your face with a cleanser, tone your face – this is an optional step, apply serum, and then moisturise.
Of course, the products will depend on your skin type, your age, and your personal preferences, and they will change through the years. This simple morning routine will not only protect your skin, but it will also allow you to notice the slow beautiful changes it goes through as time goes by, helping you love and appreciate every single one of them.
2. SPF creams
Though everyone enjoys the sunny weather, the ultraviolet rays are extremely dangerous for our skin. They not only wrinkle our skin, but, more importantly, they can cause skin health issues, such as cancer or other diseases.
However, clouds don’t stop UV rays from reaching us. This means that even when it’s sunny, we are exposed to the negative effects of the sunlight. Incorporate a daily cream with sun protection factor into your daily skin care routine, and never live the house without it.
3. Cleanser, toner, serum, night cream
Repeat your morning routine before going to sleep, only this time use night cream instead. Incorporate a high-quality night cream into your routine. It’s one more essential for your skin care. They are enriched with vitamins and antioxidants, to replenish and boost your skins moisture.
While we sleep our body is working on repairing and processing everything our body had absorbed during the day. During the day our skin tries to protect itself from all damaging outside factors we are exposed to, such as UV rays, pollutants, harsh weather… And at night, it starts repairing, and it becomes even more penetrable. This means that at night our skin absorbs the nutrients better.
Body
1. Diet
Try following and knowing what you put into your body. Your body uses healthy nutrients to stay healthy, to repair damaged cells, to give you energy etc.
Make simple rules about your diet, you don’t have to go “all or nothing”. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself so that you can actually follow your routines. For example, decide not to eat late at night. Or allow yourself to consume unhealthy delicious food only once a week, or if you can, a month.
To make sure you consume all the nutrients your body needs, add dietary supplements, such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids etc. to your health and personal care routine.
2. Exercise
If you haven’t got a favourite sport, or an exercise routine, start slowly. Find easy exercises, or take some classes. It doesn’t matter if it’s yoga, dancing, walking, running, kick box or rock climbing. Just find something that keeps you interested. And, again, what you choose should be simple and doable, and as fun as possible, as to not develop an aversion, and to avoid procrastinating.
Mind
Never forget to take care of your mental health. As mentioned above, if you develop small routines in your daily life, you are doing wonders for your psyche. Discipline calms our mind and relieves stress, giving us a sense of control over our lives. The food that we consume and exercise affect our mental health, as well.
However, there are other simple things you could do to stimulate your mind, not only in order to alleviate stress, but also for better focus, clear-mindedness and mindfulness.
You could find a hobby that releases stress, such as knitting, colouring, drawing, singing in a choir, etc. Hobbies like these are proven to work in favour of your mental health by relieving stress, giving you focus, producing happy hormones, making you feel useful, and taking a break from everyday problems.
